Glenwood girls participated in the Thomas Jefferson tournament last Saturday.  We went 1-1.

Shots on Goal:  15

Goals:

3:30 Sioux City North #5 scored on a breakaway after a defensive mistake

14:29 Elisa Mulkerrin scored from on top of the 18 yard box; unassisted

33:52 Kari Schuppan scored on to top of the 18 yard box; assist Mia McCorkle

34:32 Nikki Schuppan scored; assist Catherine Millar

45:36 Lillian Becker scored; unassisted

Hayllee Sell played goalkeeper for 35 minutes and had 2 saves.  Kendall Bardsley played goalkeeper for 25 minutes and had 3 saves.

We made a defensive mistake early in the game and got scored on off of a breakaway.  We were able to even the score after 10 minutes of being down a goal  I was happy with how the girls bounced back off of an early goal.  They continued the momentum into the second half to get us three more goals to put the game unreachable for Sioux City North.

It was a great win to have especially after losing to them last year 0-1. The girls worked really hard and started to connect some nice passes.  We definitely started to click on the offensive side this game.

2nd Game:  Glenwood 1 Urbandale 2 (we lost in a shootout 2-3)

Goals:

about halfway through 1st half - Katelyn Malcom scored a long shot from about 30 yards out over the keeper's hands; unassisted

31:00 Urbandale's #16 scored from right outside the 18 yard box

Shots:  7

Shots on Goal:  6

Kendall Bardsley played goalkeeper for 30 minutes and had 8 saves.  Hayllee Sell played goalkeeper for 50 minutes and had 8 saves.

Shootout Stats for Glenwood (Kendall Bardsley played keeper):

Shooter 1 - Emily Ausdemore missed; saved by keeper

Shooter 2 - Katelyn Malcom scored

Shooter 3 - Mia McCorkle missed off hitting the post

Shooter 4 - Kari Schuppan scored

Shooter 5 - Lillian Becker missed; saved by keeper

Kendall was able to save two of Urbandale's shooter PK's.  The three others made their PK's.

The game was definitely back and forth in the first half.  Urbandale seemed to have a little bit of the momentum, however, we seemed to gain the momentum after Katelyn Malcolm's goal in the first half.  Unfortunately, Urbandale was able to even the score early into the second half.  Urbandale seemed to control the 2nd half but we were able to survive until overtime.  In overtime, both teams had their chances to score but were unable to pull ahead.  We went into a shootout after the double overtime. We were the first to shoot.  Our first shooter missed (saved by goalie) and their first shooter made it.  Our second shooter made it and their second shooter missed (saved by goalie).  Our third shooter missed hitting off of the post.  Their third shooter made it.  Our 4th shooter made it and their fourth shooter missed (saved by goalie).  Our 5th shooter missed and their 5th shooter made it so they won the shootout 2-3.

I was super proud of the effort all of the girls gave in the game.  We never gave up and got close in overtime to pull ahead in the game.  I was also proud to see Kendall being able to save 2 of Urbandale's shooter's shots as well as Kari and Nikki Schuppan both making their PK's.  We are working to improve every game and I think today showed how much hard work the Glenwood girls I putting into this season.

Congrats girls! Keep up the good work, GO RAMS!
