Glenwood High School, 7 PM
Tonight I will be broadcasting the District 16 Finals from Glenwood, Iowa. The Glenwood Rams will host the 13-8 Carroll Tigers. This will be the first match-up between these schools this season. The Tigers defeated the Creston Panthers on Monday while Glenwood defeated the Denison Monarchs to reach this final. The winner of this matchup will play at Harlan on Monday for the Class 3A Substate 8 final. (winner of Atlantic vs. ADM)
The Carroll Tigers are a good ball club and will give Glenwood a good test tonight. Senior Kolby Molinsky is the standout player for these Tigers. Molinsky is Carroll’s team leader in points per game and total rebounds. On the season Molinsky is averaging 16.2 points per contest while grabbing 118 rebounds on the season and 31 steals. Junior guard Cooper Ross is the second leading scorer for these Tigers. Cooper Ross averages 13.3 points per game while shooting 40.7% from three point land. Carroll is very athletic and strong. I remember broadcasting a lot of these names from the football game last fall. Glenwood will need to keep their turnovers down against the Tigers pressure.
Tonight the Rams just need to play smart. Stick to what has been working all season long, tough defense and good ball movement. If Glenwood can come out hot behind the three point line I don’t think Carroll can score with Glenwood. If the Rams struggle from three point line, look for Andrew Blum and Christian Stanislav to drive the ball to the basket.
As I stated in my article earlier this week the Glenwood Rams has won 12 straight games in the state of Iowa. 12/13 with their loss coming against Omaha Skutt. The momentum will be on Glenwood’s side. The crowd will be on Glenwood’s side. I look for the Rams to look sharp tonight and defeat the Tigers 68-64.
Good luck tonight Glenwood! If you can’t make it to the game, I will be broadcasting as always here on Glenwood sports.com!
