Glenwood started their baseball season last week and the boys ended their first week with a 2-1 record. The boys picked up wins against Creston (8-2) and Council Bluffs, Thomas Jefferson (9-0). Glenwood’s only loss was at St. Albert on Thursday when the Falcons took down the Rams 7-3.

Senior AJ Slaughter picked up the win for Glenwood. Slaughter only gave up one hit after pitching six innings. AJ would record three walks and ten strikeouts in his 2017 opener. The Rams recorded nine hits against the Panthers with three coming from Sophomore Ethan Fisher. Fisher went 3-3 at the plate and scored two runs for Glenwood. Jake King and Cole Loeffelbein each had two RBIs to lead the Rams.

Sophomore Ethan Fisher pitched three innings for the Rams and earned the loss. Fisher gave up four runs and five hits. Cole Loeffelbein, Cade Van Ness and Dax Lappala all went 1-3 for Glenwood. Loeffelbein, Josh Ruth and Pierce Harrington each scored a run for the Rams.

Sophomore Colton Schutte picked up the win for Glenwood aftering pitching a shutout. Schutte gave up zero runs on zero hits. Colton recorded nine strikeouts with only two walks. Cole Loeffelbein hit the first home run on the season for Glenwood. Loeffelbein would go 1-4 from the plate with a HR and two RBIs. Sophomore Andrew Holiday went 2-3 from the plate while scoring two runs.
