Tonight the girls basketball team will drive sixty-one miles up to Harlan, Iowa for round one of postseason play. The 7-14 Rams will face the 9-10 Cyclones for the third time this season at 7:00 pm. The game can be heard on 105.3 FM.
Harlan won the first two meetings this season 52-47 and 48-44 over Glenwood. In both games Glenwood had the lead over Harlan heading into the fourth quarter but both times the Cyclones battled back to defeat the Rams.
The Cyclones are lead by Senior Nicole Lange. Lange is averaging 12.4 ppg this season and is the Cyclones leading rebounder with 130. Nicole scored 24 points and 15 points against the Rams this season. Glenwood will need to slow down Lange in order to defeat the Cyclones at home. Junior Anna Ahrenholtz is another athlete for the Cyclones that has played well against Glenwood this season. Ahrenholtz scored ten against the Rams in Glenwood and eight points at home.
I think Glenwood has a great chance to pull off the upset tonight if they make Harlan shoot from the outside. The Cyclones are currently shooting 25% from three point land. The Rams need to continue to drive the ball and get to the foul line. Glenwood shot 38 free throws combined against Harlan this season and made 22 of them.
Final prediction- This should be a great first round match-up in Harlan. Glenwood should be playing with a lot of confidence tonight coming off a win over Denison. I’ll take the Rams 49-45 over the Cyclones.
Good luck girls! GO RAMS
