The Glenwood Wrestlers kicked off their season this past week with a double dual meet and their first tournament of the year. In the double dual, the Rams went 1-1 as a team on the night, defeating Southwest Iowa 48-30, but falling to Underwood 48-34.

Saturday, Glenwood traveled to Harlan to compete in the Dan Hill Invitational. Glenwood placed third as a team, including two individual champions. After receiving a first-round bye, senior Brett Mower pinned Denison’s Jason Amezcua and Perry’s Cole Snyder en route to a first place finish in the 182-pound weight class. Junior Cole Mayberry’s day was nearly identical to Mower’s. Following a bye in the opening round, Mayberry recorded falls over Harlan’s Nathan Henry and Jacob Ludwig of Ashland-Greenwood to claim the gold at 195-pounds. The Rams placed third overall as a team.

Glenwood will take on Harlan and Saint Albert in a double-dual at home Tuesday, followed by a trip to the Council Bluffs Classic at the Mid-America Center on Friday and Saturday.
