
For the second time in three months Glenwood Senior Nate Kennedy has been crowned a state champion! Back on March 9th Nate was a starter on Glenwood’s Class 3A State Championship Basketball Team, fast forward to May 17th and Mr. Kennedy once again earned himself a state championship.
Thursday Nate won the Class 3A 400m Dash at the state tournament with a time of 48.28. According to Glenwood Track’s twitter account, Nate became Glenwood’s 20th individual State Champ and the second to ever win the 400m for the Rams. Kennedy earned Glenwood ten team points with his first place finish. Senior Kohen Watson finished 7th in the state after running a time of 49.97 in the 400. Watson and Kennedy earned their team twelve team points in one race. Nate Kennedy and Brady Weddum each competed in the 200m preliminaries on Thursday. Nate Kennedy finished with the second fastest time (22.16). Alden Kuntz of Dub, Wahlert currently has the fastest time (22.16). Brady Weddum of Glenwood ran the 23rd fastest time in the 200 prelim with a time of 23.57. Kennedy also ran in the 100m preliminaries on Thursday. Nate’s time of 11.23 currently sits in 6th place after the prelims.
Glenwood’s 4x800m Girls Relay finished 9th in the state with a time of 9:53.94.The relay team consisted of Danielle Hardcastle, Lauren Becker, Kate Kaufman and Abby McIntyre. Glenwood’s Shuttle Hurdle Girls Relay finished 13th after the preliminaries with a time of 1:09.31. The relay team consisted of Taryn Bertini, Audrey Arnold, Sami Parr and Marissa Ausdemore. Freshman Elle Scarborough finished 23rd in the state discus after a throw of 98-03. Junior Danielle Hardcastle finished 14th in the state high jump after jumping 4’11”. Freshman Emma Hughes finished 11th in the state after running a time of 11:01.17 in the 3000m run. Ellie Friesen of Crestwood won the race with a time of 10:15.43.
