Last night Glenwood hosted Abraham Lincoln in girls soccer. The Rams defeated the Lynx 1-0 after a goal by Mia McCorkle (8:45). McCorkle’s goal was assisted by Kari Schuppan. Kendall Bardsley played goalie for the Rams and had eight saves on the night.

Coach Benson’s Recap:

Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln seemed to start with the momentum at the beginning of the game. We started to connect some passes and shut down some early chances from Abraham Lincoln.  We started controlling the game a bit more after the 5th minute and were able to score in the 8th minute. We continued to have more of the control in the first half with a couple more opportunities to score.  We came out strong in the 2nd half, but Abraham Lincoln started to get more control of the game with about 20 minutes left. They had some great opportunities at goal and Kendall made some great saves. We then went into more of a defensive shell during the last 10 minutes to try and preserve the lead we had.

I was very proud of how the girls played for our first game.  We were able to connect some passes and get some opportunities at goal. We definitely had a great team effort that helped us earn this win! - Coach Benson

Way to go girls! Keep up the great work, GO RAMS!!!
