Tonight Glenwood hosted Clarinda in a double header. The Girls Varsity and Boys Varsity combined to score 154 points against the Cardinals.
Glenwood Girls Basketball Team started off the night with a win over the Cardinals 73-50. Glenwood started off hot scoring twenty and twenty two in the first two quarters. The Rams showed improvement after losing to this same team earlier in January by coming back to beat Clarinda by twenty three points. I thought the girls did a great job moving the ball around and getting good looks. Junior Nikki Schuppan had a quick start and finished off the night leading the team in scoring with nineteen. Sophomore Daniel Harcastle was second in scoring with sixteen points. Ten different Rams scored for Glenwood in their win. Great win ladies, you all deserve it. GO RAMS!
Girls Varsity Scoring by Quarter
Glenwood Individual Scoring
The boys followed up the big win by the girls with one of their own. Glenwood defeated Clarinda 81-51 for their sixth straight win. Christian Stanislav was awarded the player of the game with his twenty points. The first quarter was close. Glenwood only led the Cardinals 16-12 after the first. Clarinda slowed the pace of the game and took their time to get open looks. A twenty two point second quarter for the Rams helped them extend their lead to fourteen at halftime. Nate Mohr scored thirteen while both Stanislav and Buresh each scored nine in the first half to put the Rams up 38.24. Glenwood would go on to score twenty two in the third and twenty one in the fourth to reach their eighty one points. Once again I was impressed with Glenwood's defensive pressure and intensity. Glenwood's defense helped the Rams get easy buckets in transition to help take down the Cardinals.
Next up for the Rams will be Omaha Skutt Catholic on Friday. Glenwood will try and win their seventh game in a row.
Good job tonight Glenwood, GO RAMS!
