Ram Softball Splits at Kuemper, Goes 2-1 at Atlantic Tournament

Thursday the girls softball team traveled to Carroll, Iowa and played a doubleheader against Kuemper. Glenwood and Kuemper split games with Glenwood winning the first 7-4 and losing the second 6-11.

 

Game 1 Glenwood 7 Kuemper 4

Sophomore Sydney Bermann recorded the win for Glenwood. Bermann had nine strikeouts while giving up four runs on eight hits. Glenwood’s biggest inning came in the third when the Rams scored four of their seven runs. Brielle Smith went 2-2 at the plate while scoring a run. Cameron Rounds and Sydney Bermann both went 2-4 at the plate. Junior Arianna Springer hit a homerun for the Rams!

Game 2 Kuemper 11 Glenwood 6

Kuemper’s bats were impressive in game two. Kuemper would score three runs in the fourth and sixth while scoring four in the third inning (one run in the second). Glenwood’s pitchers gave up sixteen hits and the team had ten errors on the game. Senior Sara Ingoldsby went 2-4 from the plate with one RBI and one double. Brielle Smith went 1-3 with one run and two RBIs in the second game. Taryn Bertini, Haley Palmer, Abbie Schultz, Brielle Smith, Arianna Springer and Morgan Richter scored the runs for Glenwood.

 

Atlantic Tournament

Saturday the girls softball team traveled to Atlantic, Iowa for their tournament. Glenwood won their first game 8-4 over Carroll. The Rams would split the next two by losing 3-5 against ACGC and defeating Exira 13-1.

Sophomore Sydney Bermann earned the win for the Rams. Bermann had the best game at the plate as well. Sydney would go 2-2 at the plate with two home runs and recorded four RBIs. Bailey Rumery went 2-3 and scored two runs for the Rams.

Game 2 ACGC 5 Glenwood 3

A big inning in the bottom of the seventh gave ACGC the win over Glenwood. ACGC would score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Glenwood 5-3. Brooklyn Taylor went 3-3 for the Rams and provided three of the five total hits. Haley Palmer, Brielle Smith and Arianna Springer would score the three runs for Glenwood.

Game 3 Glenwood 13 Exira 1

Freshman Taryn Bertini recorded the win for Glenwood after four innings of play. Glenwood scored five runs in the second, one in the third and seven runs in the fourth to defeat Exira 13-1. Sydney Bermann went 2-3 from the plate with one homerun and three RBIs. Brooklyn Taylor also recorded three RBIs after going 2-2 from the plate. Brielle Smith and Bailey Rumery each went 2-3 from the plate and recorded two RBIs a piece.
