Singles

Alex Chekal went in today looking to be the first Glenwood Boys' Tennis Player to record a Singles Victory at state. He accomplished that after a first round win over Caleb Hamerlinck of Ballard in straight sets 6-1,6-1. In the quarterfinals Alex lost a hard fought battle against Jack Thomas of Davenport Assumption 7-6,6-3. Alex would then fall in the Consolation Bracket against Reed Morris of Clarke 7-5,6-4. Alex finished his Senior campaign off with a singles record of 17-3. Congratulations Alex on a great season and fantastic career!

Doubles

Sam Lauritsen and Adam Konfrst started off the day as the fourth seed in the State Tournament. In their first round the Rams defeated Jacob Peterson and Mac Adams of Clear Lake 7-5,6-4. Next up was Daniel Zhu and Devan Burke of Maharshi, Fairfield. Lauritsen and Konfrst played lights out and defeated the team from Maharshi in straight sets 6-3,6-4. This win earns Lauritsen and Konfrst a trip to the State Semifinals where they will match against Jon Lansing/Charlie Esker of Cedar Rapids Xavier. Tomorrow's atmosphere will be electric at Byrnes Park!

"Today was another day that was filled with memories that will last for a lifetime. Tomorrow we have a opportunity to make the State Finals. We will continue to play aggressively and hit with the confidence that got us where we are at." Sam Lauritsen
