Saturday night Glenwood hosted the 3-0 St. Albert Falcons in a battle of two undefeated Hawkeye Ten teams. The Rams won 64-56 after a great second half performance. Andrew Blum was the player of the game as he lead the Rams with eighteen points. Blum hit big shots in the third quarter to help Glenwood come back against the Falcons. Christian Stanislav and Nate Mohr both scored seventeen points a piece for Glenwood.
The Rams and Falcons went bucket for bucket throughout most of the game. A half court shot at the first quarter buzzer by St. Albert’s Jake Carley cut Glenwood’s lead to four (17-13) at the end of one. Carley’s fire wouldn’t go out in the second quarter as the Falcons took the lead into halftime 31-28 over the Rams.
Andrew Blum hit back to back three pointers midway through the third quarter and tied the game back up at thirty-eight points a piece. The Rams would outscore the Falcons six points to their two in the final minutes to take the lead 44-40 heading into the fourth quarter. St. Albert took back the lead 52-51 just inside the four minute mark behind some low post moves by Matt Fagan. The Rams played great defense down the stretch and made big free throw after big free throw to clinch the ball game 64-56 as the final buzzer rang.
This was a great game for both teams. Great sportsmanship to go with great basketball play is hard to come by in early December. Keep an eye on both teams as both teams will continue to get better each game.
