Two Rams Crowned Champions at Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic

Friday and Saturday Glenwood Wrestling competed at the Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic. Thirty-nine teams from five different states and over one hundred ranked wrestlers competed in one of the most competitive tournaments of the season. Glenwood finished sixth place overall with 333.5 points. Lincoln East won the tournament with 497.5 points.

Before the tournament started two Senior Rams (182 Anthony Sherry and 285 Caleb Sanders) were seeded number one in their brackets. Sherry and Sanders wrestled fantastic throughout the entire weekend and both found themselves on top of the podium on Saturday night with first place finishes.

Anthony Sherry defeated Brandon Tessau of Waukee 5-3 in the quarterfinals. Sherry would then defeat Saint James Academy Cade Lautt by Fall 1:35 in the semifinals to punch his ticket for the finals. Anthony would wrestle Nick Jouret from Olathe South in the finals and would get the Dec 5-3. Sherry went 6-0 on the weekend to earn his championship crown at the 182 pound weight class.

Heavyweight Caleb Sanders also won the 285 pound crown at the Council Bluffs Classic. Sanders showed his endurance on Saturday by winning his final two matches in ultimate tie-breaker. In the semifinals Caleb defeated John McConkey from Atlantic 3-2 in UTB. Caleb showed his strength in the finals and defeated Lee Herrington of Kearney 3-2 in UTB.

Trevor Anderson defeated Teontae Wilson of Kearney by Fall 2:57 to finish in third place at the 145 pound division. Isaac Bales defeated Tony Anger of Apple Valley by Fall :41 to finish seventh place at the 220 pound division. Noah Carter finished seventh place in the 195 pound division after defeating Ethan Kremer of Mill Valley High School by Fall 1:42. Other place winners for Glenwood included 170 Brett Mower 11th, 152 Jordan Renshaw 14th, 106 Dalton Bell 14th and 113 Ryker Case 15th.
