Titans Give Rams First Loss Of Season

Coach Haynes Recap - 7th Grade Girls Basketball took the show on the road to Lewis Central for a rematch against the Titans!  A tough, physical, competitive game was played between both teams.  Glenwood entered into halftime down by 9 and had trailed by as much as 12 at one point in the first half but fought back to be down by only 1 at the end of the 3rd quarter.  Unfortunately, foul trouble took over and the girls started to run out of steam, losing to LC by 8, to drop to 8-1 on the season.  In the B-game, the Lady Rams played some of their best team basketball of the season and led for l

Coach Haynes Recap- 7th Grade Girls Basketball took on the Clarinda Cardinals last night in Clarinda.  The girls had a solid game, winning 41-8 to improve to 8-0 on the season.  8 Rams scored last night, led by Jenna H. with 19 points and Kate. H with 8.  Ryley N. scored 4 points and Hallee L, Molly W., Delaney H., Carissa G., and Kylee R. all scored 2 each. In the B-game, the girls ended up losing to the Clarinda A-team 4 to 10.  Ashley W. and Jessica S. each scored 2 points. The girls are back in action at Lewis Central on Thursday.

Glenwood Sweeps Creston

A twenty-three point first quarter gave the Rams a 23-11 lead against the Creston Panthers. Junior Christian Stanislav had a great first half as the Rams took the lead into halftime 43-25. Stanislav ended the first half with seventeen points. Creston’s Kylan Smallwood tried to bring the Panthers back in the third quarter but the Rams held on to their 64-45 lead after three quarters. Christian Stanislav ended the third with twenty-three points for the Rams while Kylan Smallwood finished the third with twenty-seven.

Rams Look to Bounce Back After Two Friday Losses

Last Friday the girls basketball team hosted the undefeated Lewis Central Titans. Lewis Central defeated the Rams 72-33 behind seventeen points by Maegan Holt. The boys basketball team traveled into a hostile environment and was defeated by Omaha Skutt 67-58. Nate Mohr lead all scorers with twenty-two points as the Rams dropped their second game of the season.

Tonight the girls basketball team will travel to face Creston. The Panthers are currently 7-10 overall and 1-7 in the conference. Creston is coming off a 47-52 loss against St. Albert.

Koehler Wins Iowa USA Wrestling State Championship While Powerhouse Girls Wrestling Club Brings Home Trophy

This weekend Glenwood youth wrestlers competed at the Iowa USA Wrestling State Championships held at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Kamilla Phillippus finished third in the PeeWee division. Sophia Carnes finished fourth in the Intermediate division. These girls also contributed towards the Powerhouse Girls Wrestling Club first ever Girls Team Trophy. Congratulations girls! The Powerhouse Girls Wrestling Club is coached by Jessica Phillippus.

Great Team Effort Gives Glenwood H-10 Tournament Title

For the first time since 2006 the Hawkeye Ten Wrestling Tournament trophy has landed in the hands of Glenwood. Saturday the Rams put together one of their best days of the season by scoring 237.5 team points. Glenwood’s 237.5 points was enough to win the tournament by 36.5 points. Creston finished second with 201 while Lewis Central finished third with 195 team points.

 

7th Grade Now 6-0 After Win Over Red Oak

Coach Haynes recap- Last night, the undefeated 7th Grade GBB team traveled to Red Oak for a rematch of their season opener against the Tigers.  The girls played some stout half court defense, containing the Tiger screen and drive attack on their way to a 15 point lead at half time.  The Rams had a solid second half, resulting in a 39-24 victory to improve to 6-0 on the season.  The leading scorer for the Rams was Jenna H. with 23, including 9 or 12 from the freethrow line.  Also scoring for the Rams were Ryley N. with 5 points (3 of 4 from the line), Molly W. with 6 points, Delaney H.

Rams Gear Up for Conference Tournament

    The wrestling team has wrapped up its regular season schedule and now prepares for the postseason. The Rams finished with an overall dual record of 16-3 and 8-2 in the Hawkeye Ten. Those eight wins were good enough to put the Rams in third place in the conference standings behind Creston and Atlantic, who shared a conference dual title.

    While a dual season championship was a goal that head coach Brad Asche and his Rams had a the beginning of the year, they are putting the third place finish behind them and looking forward to the weeks ahead.

Glenwood vs. Skutt Catholic Preview

Tonight the 14-1 Glenwood Rams will travel across the bridge and take on the 14-3 Omaha Skutt Skyhawks. The Rams come in ranked #6 in Class 3A while the SkyHawks are currently ranked #6 in Class B.

Glenwood is currently on a five game win streak with their latest victory coming against Clarinda 79-28. Skutt Catholic is currently on a five game win streak of their own. On Tuesday, the #6 Skyhawks defeated Class A #7 Lincoln Pius 62-56.
