Glenwood Wrestling Takes Fourth at Hawkeye Ten Tournament

Saturday the Rams traveled to Carroll Kuemper High School for the 2017 Hawkeye Ten Wrestling Tournament. Glenwood finished fourth with 190 points. Atlantic won the tournament with 235 in front of Creston's 212 and Red Oak's 190.5. Glenwood's Trevor Anderson and Jordan Renshaw both were crowned champions of their weight classes (145 and 152). AJ Slaughter, Anthony Sherry, Isaac Bales, Zach Haggstrom and Caleb Sanders all finished second place.

Skyhawks Knock Off Rams in Double OT

Friday night the Omaha Skutt Skyhawks defeated Glenwood in double overtime 82-74. Christian Stanislav was the leading scorer for Glenwood with 24 points. Stanislav started out hot in the first quarter scoring twelve of Glenwood's twenty two points. A big second quarter for Skutt (18 points) but them up on the Rams 36-32 at halftime. The entire second half both teams were hitting big shot after big shot. A late three pointer for the Skyhawks helped send the game into overtime at fifty seven all.

Skutt Heads to Town for a Battle Against Glenwood

Huge game tonight in Glenwood! Nebraska's seventh ranked team in Class B Omaha Skutt will be in town for a showdown with the 11-4 Glenwood Rams! The Rams are currently on a six game winning streak and that will be put on the line tonight against one tough opponent. Tuesday Skutt lost at Pius X 58-79 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Skutt is coming into town with a record of 11-4.

Coach Asche Picks Up 100th Win as Glenwood Takes Down Kuemper and Denison

Glenwood's wrestling coach Brad Asche picked up his 100th career win last night after his team defeated Denison and Carroll Kuemper. The Ram wrestlers defeated Denison 70-11 and Kuemper 72-6. The two wins by Glenwood Wrestling puts Coach Asche's overall record at 100-23. Tomorrow the Rams will travel to Carroll, Iowa for the Hawkeye Ten Wrestling Tournament. Glenwood will have a good chance to not only win some weight classes but to also compete for the tournament title.

January is National Mentoring Month. The Glenwood community does a great job with Glenwood Community Schools-Based Mentoring Program, Mentoring with Heart. I am currently a mentor with this program and I encourage people to sign up. One hour a week can make a huge impact on both the mentor and mentee.

Glenwood's Coaches vs. Cancer Pink Out

Tomorrow night Glenwood High School is hosting Coaches vs. Cancer and Pink Out during the basketball games. From 4:00-8:30 pm Glenwood will have "Be The Match" to try and find matches for those in need of bone marrow or stem cell transplants. 1-540 people could be a possible match. (very low)

Show up at Glenwood High School tomorrow and the Glenwood staff will help you fill out a registration form and do a simple cheek swab for those between the ages of 18-44.

Cardinals Will Give Lady Rams Opportunity to Show Improvement

Tomorrow night Glenwood will host Clarinda for a match up where both teams are 1-7 in the conference. Clarinda will come to town with a record of 3-11. Like Glenwood, the Cardinals are a young team. The top three scorers for Clarinda are Juniors and a Sophomore. Back on January third the Cardinals defeated the Lady Rams by one point. Sophomore Aliyah St. Romain as the leading scorer for Clarinda. St. Romain scored sixteen of the forty eight points. Sophomore Taylor Wedemeyer and Junior Maddie Hartley also played well for the Cardinals.

Where Does Ram Basketball Stand After Five Game Streak?

Tomorrow night Glenwood Boys Basketball will be looking for their sixth straight win. The boys host Clarinda on Tuesday night after the conclusion of the girls game. During their five game win streak, the Rams have averaged 71 points per game. Ball movement and defensive intensity are two areas where Glenwood has excelled as of late to help with their five game streak.
