Rams Dominate Monarchs in Second District Victory

Nick Stavas's picture

Glenwood (4-1, 2-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 52-14 blowout of Denison (3-2, 2-1) Friday night. The Ram offense was rolling with a dangerous rushing attack and a stellar performance from the offensive line, all while their defense was the same as it has been all season, holding their fifth straight opponent to less than 20 points.

Head Coach Cory Faust was pleased with the sharpness his squad exhibited after a sloppy start to the season on offense.

Class 3A District 7 Rundown: Week Five

Week four was for an interesting one in District 7. Harlan took the reigns in the standings with a road win at Glenwood, Denison dominated Creston on the road and Carroll was nearly stunned by ADM (but not quite). As for tomorrow night, there are some pretty good match ups on the slate that could shake up the standings even more. So, without further ado, the week five District 7 rundown:

Rams Sweep the Monarchs

Despite having a slow start, the Rams swept Denison 3-0. Glenwood was down 24-23 in the first set but came back to win 26-24. A handful of unforced errors by both teams kept the first set close. The second set was all Glenwood as they defeated Denison by 12 points to win 25-13. In the third set Glenwood won 25-19 despite leading 13-2 early on in the set.

Coach Ohm's Recap On The Match vs. Red Oak

The 7th grade VB team hosted Red Oak last night for their season opener.

The A team dominated the Tigers 25-12, 25-7, and 15-1.  87% serving from the entire team made the difference.  Delaney H. really stood out on the service line.  Out of her 33 serves, 22 of them were aces.  Taylor B. and Jenna H. both finished with 3 hits.

The B team lost (11-25, 18-25, & 8-15) but showed improvements as the night went on.

Glenwood Comeback Falls Short, Cyclones Win Heavyweight Bout

Nick Stavas's picture

The Glenwood Rams (3-1, 1-1) are no strangers to being down late in the game. “The Kardiac Kids” almost did it again, but in the end, the Harlan Cyclones (3-1, 2-0) walked away from Ram Memorial Field with a 17-14 victory.

It was a defensive battle, a coaching chess match and a dog fight until the final whistle. Glenwood Head Coach Cory Faust was impressed with his team’s effort, even if it was a losing one.

“I thought it was a good effort,” he said. “I mean, Harlan’s got a good team, so I don’t doubt our guys’ effort at all.”

Class 3A District 7 Rundown: Week Four

Nick Stavas's picture

Week three of high school football was full of surprises in District 7. A blowout win for Harlan over Creston, and two games decided by less than four points made for an exciting opening week of district play. The Glenwood-Harlan game is obviously our game of the week selection, and the full preview of that matchup can be found here. But while all you Ram fans perform your gameday-eve rituals (whatever those may be) in preparation for tomorrow night’s battle here in Glenwood, let’s take a look at the rest of the action around the district:
