Ram Golf Begins Season with a Victory

Coach Joyner's recap on the boys win over Lewis Central

 

The Glenwood Boy's Varsity was victorious over the Lewis Central Titans 159-189 on a blustery, cold April day. The conditions were less than ideal for playing good golf, but we're excited to get back out there and competing. We didn't hit our goal for the day, but saw some great individual performances. Colton Book's 37 earned him medalist honors with Kris Yakes edging out Pierce Harrington for medalist runner-up with 40s.

 

Ram Tennis Crowned Champs at the Fillies Invite

Saturday Glenwood Girls Tennis Team traveled to Shenandoah for the 2017 Fillies Tennis Invitational. Glenwood tied with Shenandoah with twelve overall team points but the Rams were crowned champions after winning the head to head tiebreaker. Denison finished third with eleven team points and St. Albert finished fourth with five points. The number one doubles team of Brooklyn Taylor and Ruby Crow on the tournament after defeating J. Beck and R. Heilesen of Denison 6-2, 6-2 in the finals.

Rams Sweep Sioux City

Yesterday the girls tennis team took their 1-0 record on the road and took on Sioux City East and West in a triangular. The first match of the day Glenwood defeated Sioux City East 9-0. Ellie Osterloh won 8-0 over Taylor Pick in number one singles. Ruby Crow, Erin Stanley and Brielle Smith all won 8-1 in singles. Brooklyn Taylor defeated Brooklyn Neison 8-5 and Sierra Stouder defeated Alexa Heltman 8-3.

Short Handed Rams Defeat Southwest Valley

Last night the boys played their season opener against Southwest Valley. Despite missing one of their top players the Rams stepped up and defeated Southwest Valley 7-2. Glenwood's top three in singles Sam Lauritsen, Adam Konfrst and Kris Mintle all looked impressive in their matches. Lauritsen, Konfrst and Mintle all won their singles 8-2. Sophomore Carter Benson and Senior Kyhler Campbell both won their first varsity matches. Junior Josh Ruth lost 6-8 in a hard fought battle. Sam Lauritsen and Adam Konfrst teamed up for the first time in doubles and impressed the crowd.

Rams Victorious at Ram Relays

Glenwood ran away with the Ram Relays on Monday scoring 189 total team points. Atlantic finished second with 130.50 and Harlan finished third with 115.5 total team points. Mavrick Decker had the best night for the Rams by earning 25 points for the team. Nate Kennedy also ran well contributing 17.5 total points.

Nacho and Embray Lift Glenwood Past Sergeant Bluff

Monday the Glenwood soccer team defeated Sergeant Bluff-Luton 2-0. Glenwood's Nacho Vadillo scored the first goal of the game off a corner kick from Turner Reich in the third minute. Nick Embray scored the second goal from a pass by Jonathan Tallmon towards the end of the first half (31:23). Blake Von Essen was in goal for the Rams but saw little action on the night. Great win Glenwood!

Bomer and the Rams Take the Lady Cardinal Relays

Glenwood girls track looked impressive once again after winning the Lady Cardinal Relays by 21 team points. The Rams finished with 108 total points. Creston finished second with 87 and Thomas Jefferson finished third with 79.5 total team points. Glenwood's Devon Bomer had another great night finishing second and first in the 100m (13.74) and 200m (28.14). Boomer also started on the 4x400 relay team that finished first place with a time of 4.25.22.

Rams Defeat Titans 6-3

Yesterday the girls tennis team started their season off win a win on the road. The Rams defeated the Lewis Central Titans 6-3. Brooklyn Taylor, Ruby Crow and Sierra Stouder all picked up wins in singles. Heading into doubles the match was tied 3-3. Glenwood swept doubles to pick up the win 6-3. Sierra Stouder and Ruby Crow looked impressive winning 8-1 in their doubles match. "Crow and Stouder continued where they left of last season" said coach Ohm. Next up for Glenwood will be Sioux City East on Thursday. Good job ladies!
