Creston No Challenge for Red Hot Rams

Nick Stavas's picture

Glenwood (6-1, 4-1) travelled to Creston (1-6, 0-5) and took care of business Friday night. On an evening with odd start times and harsh weather around the area, the Rams did not blink an eye as they pegged their third straight victory with a 49-13 blowout win over the Panthers.

Head Coach Cory Faust was happy with his team’s performance. “Our thought our guys played really well,” said Faust. “I know Creston’s record makes it easy to overlook them, but they have some really good players”

Class 3A District 7 Rundown: Week Seven - District Title on the Line in Winterset

Believe it or not, the 2017 season is coming to an end. Week seven seemed like ages away back in August when we started, but here it is. Who would have guessed harlan and Winterset would be playing for a (possible) district title this week. That game, and a lot of other interesting action is on the slate week. Enjoy:

Carter Leads Rams to Home Victory over Atlantic

The Glenwood Rams (5-1, 3-1) picked up their third district win Friday night over Atlantic. A 400-yard rushing performance and some timely defensive stops helped fend off a Trojan comeback as the Rams nabbed a 42-20 homecoming victory. This win gives the Rams a realistic shot at a playoff bid, barring any wild upsets in the final three weeks of the season.

Class 3A District Rundown: Week Six

Week five had some great action: Winterset captured a signature win over Carroll, Atlantic won an overtime thriller over Creston, Glenwood went back to being the Rams of old, and Harlan was… well, Harlan. Tomorrow night’s slate has some intriguing matchups, including a certain district frontrunner on upset watch. Here is the week six District 7 rundown:

Rams Dominate Monarchs in Second District Victory

Glenwood (4-1, 2-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 52-14 blowout of Denison (3-2, 2-1) Friday night. The Ram offense was rolling with a dangerous rushing attack and a stellar performance from the offensive line, all while their defense was the same as it has been all season, holding their fifth straight opponent to less than 20 points.

Head Coach Cory Faust was pleased with the sharpness his squad exhibited after a sloppy start to the season on offense.

Week four was for an interesting one in District 7. Harlan took the reigns in the standings with a road win at Glenwood, Denison dominated Creston on the road and Carroll was nearly stunned by ADM (but not quite). As for tomorrow night, there are some pretty good match ups on the slate that could shake up the standings even more. So, without further ado, the week five District 7 rundown:

Glenwood Comeback Falls Short, Cyclones Win Heavyweight Bout

Nick Stavas's picture

The Glenwood Rams (3-1, 1-1) are no strangers to being down late in the game. “The Kardiac Kids” almost did it again, but in the end, the Harlan Cyclones (3-1, 2-0) walked away from Ram Memorial Field with a 17-14 victory.

It was a defensive battle, a coaching chess match and a dog fight until the final whistle. Glenwood Head Coach Cory Faust was impressed with his team’s effort, even if it was a losing one.

“I thought it was a good effort,” he said. “I mean, Harlan’s got a good team, so I don’t doubt our guys’ effort at all.”
