Rams Sneak Out Victory in Carroll Behind Strong Defense, Timely Offense

  A warm August evening played host to week one of the Iowa High School Football season. At the brand new Carroll Athletic Field, another instant classic took place between the Glenwood Rams and the Carroll Tigers. In a game that saw six total turnovers and an abundance of penalties, the Rams escaped with a 17-14 win to start the season in nail biting fashion.

  Change is the popular word to describe what the 2018 season entails for the Glenwood Rams. Changes in schedule, playoff format, district competition, lineups, coaching staff and even playbook surround the Rams this season.

  Coming off its third straight state playoff appearance, Glenwood is gearing up for another successful season on the gridiron. With seven returning starters in the senior class and loads of new talent rising to the top of the depth chart, Head Coach Cory Faust sees promise in his varsity squad.

Carter Earns Elite Camper Award at North Dakota State INDY Camp

Last Thursday Glenwood Senior Noah Carter had the opportunity to compete at the NDSU Bison Football INDY Camp. North Dakota State has a terrific NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision program. The Bison have won fourteen national titles with their latest titles coming in 2011,12,13,14,15, and 17 all as DIV. 1 FCS. Noah Carter was Glenwood’s second leading rusher from a season ago with 987 yards. Carter averaged 6.2 yards per carry a season ago and scored twenty rushing touchdowns on the year.

It’s that time of year to update all the Ram Fans on the current weightlifting records. Coach Faust is building a powerhouse in Glenwood. My hat goes off to all the 100 plus athletes who are getting into the gym EVERY WEEKDAY this summer. Many people around the area wonder why Glenwood has progressed in almost every sport over the last few years??? Walk into the gym during the summer. The Rams have one of the bigger weight rooms in the state and the room is filled every morning with Ram Athletes.

A Look Inside the NEW 2018 Football Schedule

The IHSAA created new football districts that will begin Fall 2018.

    Class 4A: 42 teams, 7 districts, 6 teams per district; 4 non-district games per team

    Class 1A-3A: 54 teams, 9 districts, 6 teams per district; 4 non-district games per team

    Class A: 62 teams, 8 districts with 6 teams, and 2 districts with 7 teams; 4 non-district games per team in 6-team districts and 3 non-district games per team in 7-team districts

Taking a Look Inside the New Football Class 3A District 9

Today the IHSAA announced their new football districts as the state will remain with sixteen teams per class. The new football districts will begin starting this fall (2018) football season. IHSAA executive director Alan Beste said “Player safety is the number one priority and we are also committed to playing early round postseason games on Friday nights. Keeping 16 qualifiers allows for maximum recovery time between games and maintains high school’s Friday night tradition.”

 

Changes Have Been Made as New Complex Up For Vote

The first bond vote did not pass back on April 4th of 2017 but with adjustments made the community looks to pass the new bond on February 6th. A year ago the community in Glenwood voted for a bond that was for 6 million dollars to improve Glenwood’s activity complex. The bond did not pass. A new bond vote for the activities complex will be on February 6th that is for 3.7 million dollars. Below is a list of facts on the details of the NEW adjustments on the new activities complex.
