Every athlete and coach in most sports refers to the final stretch of the season as a “grind.” But in wrestling, it seems as if that term is exacerbated around this time of year. There’s no doubt that the Glenwood wrestlers are on their late-season grind, making that final effort to finish out their season on a high note.

Mower Finds Success as Wrestling Team Struggles

The Glenwood wrestling team is still settling into the new season as they are struggling to find wins both individually and as a team. The Rams picked up one win but suffered two losses in their home dual last week. Glenwood defeated Treynor by a score of 56-22, but lost to both Underwood and Creston by double-digit margins. Glenwood sits in the middle of the pack in the Hawkeye Ten, currently tied for 6th place with Creston and Kuemper.

Wrestling Preview: Rams Reloading Lineup With Fresh Faces, Experienced Grapplers

The Glenwood Wrestling may be epitomizing the term “new faces” this year, after graduating eight varsity starters, including six state qualifiers, four state place-winners and one state champion. For most teams, graduating a class with an abundance of talent to that degree would warrant a rebuilding season in the following year; not in the eyes of the Glenwood Rams.
