Koehler Brings Home the Winter Nationals Champion Belt

Glenwood youth wrestler Mason Koehler competed in the 2018 Winter Nationals this weekend. The event was held at the Ralston Arena in Nebraska. Koehler finished in first place at 120 and got to bring home the CHAMPIONSHIP BELT. Mason also competed in the 130 bracket where he went 2-1 on the weekend.

 

Congratulations Mason! Keep up the hard work.

Anderson and Sanders Crowned Champions at Jack Mendenhall Invitational

Saturday the Glenwood wrestling team traveled to Ames, Iowa for the Jack Mendenhall Invitational. Seventeen teams competed in the tournament from Iowa and Nebraska. Glenwood’s Caleb Sanders and Trevor Anderson both won their weight classes and were crowned champions at the Jack Mendenhall Invitational.

 

Rams Defeat Tigers and Mustangs but Fall to the Titans as Sherry Captures Win 150

This dual started off at 106 and the Titans capitalized. Lewis Central would win the first six matches to give the Titans a 27-0 lead. At 145 Trevor Anderson won the battle between two ranked wrestlers by defeating Dalton Mohatt 3-2 to get the Rams on the board. Kingery and Waugh would win the next two weights for Lewis Central before Glenwood rallied off five straight wins (four falls) to end the dual. Lewis Central defeated Glenwood 40-30 to give the Titans their first win over Glenwood in five years.

Rams Ready for First Home Dual of the Season as Sherry Looks for 150th Win

Glenwood wrestling will host their first dual of the season tomorrow. The Rams will host a varsity quad on Thursday night with matches beginning at 5:00 pm. The fifth ranked team by IA Wrestle is ready to put on a show for their hometown crowd. Glenwood will host Red Oak, Shenandoah and Lewis Central. Senior Anthony Sherry currently has 148 wins and will look to capture his 150th tomorrow night in front of his hometown crowd!

 

Six Rams Ranked on Latest Wrestling Polls

Our friends over at IA Wrestle have dropped their latest Class 3A Team and Individual Wrestling Rankings (12/19). Five individuals are ranked in the top ten within their weight classes. As a team, Glenwood is ranked fifth overall behind West Des Moines Valley, Southeast Polk, Waukee and Fort Dodge. The Predicament also put up their latest Class 3A Team and Individual Rankings. Below is how Glenwood stands in each poll.

Glenwood Takes Down Underwood and Creston

Tuesday night Glenwood picked up two more duals wins by defeating Underwood and Creston in Creston.

The Rams first defeated Underwood 65-17. Glenwood picked up six wins by forfeit against the Eagles. Jordan Renshaw, Tanner Maxwell,Ryker Case and Isaac Bales each picked up Falls against Underwood. Trevor Anderson put together an offensive performance by winning 17-1 over Keyler Rodenburg.

Two Rams Crowned Champions at Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic

Friday and Saturday Glenwood Wrestling competed at the Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic. Thirty-nine teams from five different states and over one hundred ranked wrestlers competed in one of the most competitive tournaments of the season. Glenwood finished sixth place overall with 333.5 points. Lincoln East won the tournament with 497.5 points.
