Glenwood Wrestling Advances Three to the Quarterfinals

Glenwood Wrestling went 3-5 overall in round one at the Iowa State Wrestling Tournament. The Rams picked up wins from Trevor Anderson at 145, Anthony Sherry at 182, and Zach Haggstrom at 220. Below are the results from the first round and match-ups for the next rounds.

Today Glenwood hosted the Class 3A District 4 Tournament. The Rams advanced eight wrestlers to the State Tournament that will be held at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Ram Wrestling Falls in Regional Team Duals

After defeating Newton 40-32 in the semi-finals, the Rams would lose 42-20 in the finals against Indianola. Glenwood finished their dual season with a record of 14-3 overall. Now these Rams will host districts on Saturday at 12 pm. The top two individuals of each weight class will advance to the state tournament!

Regional Dual Team Preview

Tomorrow Glenwood Wrestling will travel to Indianola, Iowa for the Regional Team Duals. #11 Glenwood will take on #22 Newton in the semi-final match. The winner of the semi-final match will then face #7 Indianola later that night. The winning school of the finals match will punch their ticket to the State Dual Team Tournament. The State Dual Team Tournament will be on Wednesday, February 15th at the Wells Fargo Arena.

Glenwood Wrestling Takes Fourth at Hawkeye Ten Tournament

Saturday the Rams traveled to Carroll Kuemper High School for the 2017 Hawkeye Ten Wrestling Tournament. Glenwood finished fourth with 190 points. Atlantic won the tournament with 235 in front of Creston's 212 and Red Oak's 190.5. Glenwood's Trevor Anderson and Jordan Renshaw both were crowned champions of their weight classes (145 and 152). AJ Slaughter, Anthony Sherry, Isaac Bales, Zach Haggstrom and Caleb Sanders all finished second place.

Coach Asche Picks Up 100th Win as Glenwood Takes Down Kuemper and Denison

Glenwood's wrestling coach Brad Asche picked up his 100th career win last night after his team defeated Denison and Carroll Kuemper. The Ram wrestlers defeated Denison 70-11 and Kuemper 72-6. The two wins by Glenwood Wrestling puts Coach Asche's overall record at 100-23. Tomorrow the Rams will travel to Carroll, Iowa for the Hawkeye Ten Wrestling Tournament. Glenwood will have a good chance to not only win some weight classes but to also compete for the tournament title.
